The power of two
The comprehensive new Prado range really does feature something for every driver, starting with a choice of two engines.
The GX, VX Diesel and VX Limited variants all feature a powerful and efficient turbo-charged common rail direct injection 3.0-litre diesel.
There’s also a VX Petrol model, with a powerful 4.0-litre V6 petrol under the bonnet, This engine from Toyota’s robust family of dependable power units features Dual Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).
In tune with the road ahead
The VX Limited features a sophisticated Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS)[?] which can help reduce collision damage and injury. The PCS system features a radar sensor that detects obstacles in front of the Prado. Using numerous sensors, the pre-crash system computer helps determine in advance whether an unavoidable collision is about to occur. The Pre-Crash Safety system[?] alerts the driver and instantaneously reacts by retracting the front seatbelts and arming the Pre-crash Brake Assist system to improve braking performance. In an extreme situation the system could even apply the brakes even if you haven’t touched the brake pedal.

An incredible 14 speaker JBL Premium Audio and Navigation Package with subwoofer is available as an option for Prado VX or standard in VX Limited.
This fantastic surround sound stereo system gives you everything at your fingertips, with the added bonus of satellite navigation.
The satellite navigation system has the country covered, although if you are traveling through the Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch metro areas, the inbuilt SUNA traffic avoidance software will provide alternative route information to keep you moving during peak commuting times.
Hatch a plan
All Prado models feature a handy top-hinged glass hatch in the tailgate. This gives you access to the vehicle’s boot even when in confined situations where opening the full tailgate might not be possible – such as in garages with low ceilings.
What’s more the hatch can be unlocked using the Prado’s smart key and opened with one hand thanks to a discreet button.
See the light
Subtle LED illumination sits inside the Prado’s door handles, which makes hopping into the vehicle easier when it’s dark.
Movie in time
Rear-seat passengers in the VX Limited can break up that long road trip with in-car entertainment thanks to the 9” LED ceiling mounted adjustable display attached to a Blu-ray player and powerful, multi-speaker 5.1 channel DVD surround sound system.
There are even wireless rear seat headphones that allow for a different audio track to be played to rear seat passengers, meaning front seat passengers can enjoy music or a radio channel while those in the second and third rows can watch a Blu-ray DVD.
Touches of luxury
