Isuzu DMax, since its introduction in May 2002, remained Thailand's largest selling 4WD pick-up till 2005 when Toyota Hilux Vigo's and Toyota Fortuner's runaway popularity took Isuzu's crown away, but Isuzu is trying hard not to cede any ground and it has responded with its new Isuzu DMax and Isuzu MU-7. 2012 edition of Isuzu Dmax and MU-7 promise to give Toyota Hilux Vigo and Toyota Fortuner a run for its money.
Isuzu is among Asia's largest three commercial vehicles category. No company has the experience and expertise of Isuzu in diesel engines. In 2003 alone, it manufactured a whopping 16 million diesel engines.
The Isuzu MU-7 is a Pickup-based Passenger Vehicle (PPV) based on the Isuzu D-Max chassis and offers a seven-seat arrangement. Basically, the MU-7 has the same front fascia as the D-Max, but has a covered rear end instead of a truck bed. It is only available in Thailand and the Philippines. In the Philippines this model is called the Isuzu Alterra.
